APPLICANTS HAVE TO DOWNLOAD AND SIGN THE DOCUMENTS AND COURIER THE PHYSICAL COPIES OF SAME TO US ALONG WITH NOTARISED/SDM-ATTESTED AFFIDAVIT AND NEWSPAPERS IF THEY ARE NOT IN DELHI NCR AREA ALONG WITH NEWS PAPER COPY.

SUBMISSION OF APPLICATION FOR IN AN OFFICIAL GAZETTE PUBLICATION

AFTER RECEIVING THE ORIGINAL SIGNED DOCUMENTS AND NEWSPAPERS FROM THE APPLICANT, WE WILL SUBMIT THE APPLICATION AND DOCUMENTS FOR PUBLICATION OF NAME CHANGE IN THE OFFICIAL GAZETTE, WHICH WILL BE ADDRESSED TO THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLICATION, NEW DELHI.

OFFICIAL GAZETTE PUBLICATION

PUBLICATION OF YOUR NAME CHANGE WILL BE MADE IN AN OFFICIAL GAZETTE IN BETWEEN 30-45 DAYS FROM THE DATE OF SUBMISSION OF THE APPLICATION.

DISPATCH OF THE OFFICIAL GAZETTE

  • Advertisement in the newspaper (original newspaper)
  • Affidavit for Name Change
  • The proforma for name change signed by two witnesses with their details are required:
  • A Compact Disc (CD) that contains soft copy of the Proforma without witness details
  • A certificate stating that details of the CD and Hard copy are similar
  • Two self-attested passport size photos
  • Colour Photocopy of identity proof of the Applicant with old Name (photocopy of any one of the following documents will suffice: Aadhar card, passport, voter ID card, PAN card, driving license)
  • Standard fee deposit slip

Name Change Procedure in India

The name change process involves the following steps: Submission of a sworn statement, a newspaper announcement, and a Gazette of India announcement. In carrying out these steps, the applicant will need some documents certified by a court clerk / notary.

Step 1: To Create The Name Change Affidavit

Complete your affidavit with the help of an attorney. This letter should include details such as old name, new name, why the name was changed (marriage, law, numerology, etc.), address, etc. The certificate is printed on the stamp and signed by two witnesses. Meet a journalist and complete an attestation.

Step 2: To Place an Advertisement

Post name change announcements in local and national newspapers. A sample declaration is attached in the files section.

Step 3: Gazette Publication – Name Change Gazette Procedure

Submit the request and information to the advertiser and notify the Gazette of the actual name change. Name changes will be reported to the Department of publication within 30 days of the request. We will follow the instructions on a daily basis. After the announcement, the Gazette will be delivered. The name change process may seem simple, but it can be difficult to detail and tedious as it requires you to understand the legal process and visit multiple offices.
